Based in Malaga WA, West Coast Gymnasts is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing quality gymnastics programs to children of all ages and abilities for over 40 years.

A rare opportunity has become available for a Recreational Gymnastics Programs Coordinator to work alongside a strong, dedicated and loyal team under the guidance of a parent-run Board of Management.

This job shared position (0.75FTE) requires a flexible working mindset as hours will vary dependent on the club’s timetable and staff availability.  The successful candidate will be required to coach for a minimum of 21 hours per week, spread across Monday to Saturday (your choice of which five days) between the hours of 9.00am and 7.00pm.  The role would include coaching primarily in the afternoons, on Saturdays (all day) and some days in the morning in our Kindergym program.

There will also be times where you’ll be required to work outside of these times, including Sundays when there are community events or competitions on.  Hence, our need for a flexible applicant.

As a Gymnastics Australia accredited coach, with a minimum of Intermediate, you’ll be guiding not only young children to develop their skills in gymnastics, you’ll also be mentoring our junior coaches and guiding them through their pathways as a coach, in whichever gymsport they choose.

Being able to create strong relationships with athletes, parents, staff and volunteers will be highly regarded as the club values working together as a team with the club’s values, mission and vision in mind.  A family-friendly, nurturing environment will be a refreshing change for any applicant.

This position does require physical work and applicants will be expected to move equipment, assist children with their skills (spotting) and stay on their feet, active and engaged during their shifts.

When not coaching, the successful applicant will be required to plan, implement and review lesson plans on a regular basis, carry out equipment safety checks and report to the Committee any issues, coordinate and run inhouse competitions, carry out maintenance and work very closely with the Club’s other appointed Coordinator.

All staff are required to possess a valid Working With Children Check Card and must keep this valid during their employment, must maintain their accreditations, and be willing to grow, develop and participate in ongoing personal development themselves.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Australia.  Remuneration will be in line with the Fitness Industry Award and paid at the rate according to the applicant’s accreditation.  Penalty rates do apply and are paid accordingly.

Applications will need to be submitted to the club’s Operations Manager via email to with a cover letter and resume by no later than 9th of July 2022.
